Updated: Sep 30, 2022

My Great-great-grandparents Arthur & Anna Perry with children baby Bruce, Edith, standing in the back is Ray and my Great-Grandpa Guy Thomas Perry.

Guy married my grandmother Edna Warden on May 25, 1935. They had six children. Guy was educated at the University of Tennessee at Memphis, where he gained the training necessary to become a pharmacist. On his own ability, he became a skilled carpenter, electrician, and plumber. He started the Grade A Perryden Dairy barn in 1940. In 1945, he moved to the business world, working for Coble and Yadkin Valley dairies. He managed Yadkin Valley Dairy in Wilkesboro, NC for seventeen years, commuting from Piney Creek, NC each day.

While he was away, the family kept up the dairy operation at home. Guy retired in 1970.

Guy was an Alleghany County Commissioner for seventeen years, and for many years was a Committeeman for Piney Creek School. Mr. Perry was an active member of the Piney Creek United Methodist Church. He was also instrumental in the organization and functioning of the Piney Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

The Perry family has roughly a two-hundred year history in Alleghany County.
